Another year, another Call of Duty. With CoD: Black Ops 4 representing the greatest shift the franchise has seen in years, there are plenty of questions. Why isn’t there a campaign? What is Blackout? What are the zombies like? There are hundreds of questions one could ask about this title. For Xbox One X owners though, the question likely at the front of their minds have to do with enhancements. Is CoD: Black Ops 4 Xbox One X enhanced?

While past Call of Duty games have been enhanced by the power of the Xbox One X, there is no guarantee that new ones are. Fortunately though, with Treyarch’s newest entry, users can rest easy. CoD: Black Ops 4 is enhanced on Xbox One X.

For starters, it’s 4K compatible. This means the game will be more crisp, more clean, more defined and simply put, better looking. In virtually all ways, 4K is superior to 1080p. This enhancement ensures that every kill you get will be extra pretty. So too will that final Blackout kill.

Beyond 4K though, what other enhancements are there? Well, as is becoming more and more standard these days, HDR. This feature, which stands for High Dynamic Range, is a feature of the Xbox One X that heightens the levels of contrast in games.

To take advantage of HDR though, you need a tv that can utilize HDR. Usually, a tv that can do HDR is also a tv that can do 4K (although there are some exceptions).

If you’re playing CoD: Black Ops 4 with HDR on, you should notice a lot of contrast differences. The color black will be darker. White will be brighter. Red will be more dramatic. Blue will be deeper, and so on. HDR is the true gamechanger in video game graphical fidelity.

Combine HDR and 4K together though and you’ve got yourself an exceptionally gorgeous gaming session on your hands. With an Xbox One X, that kind of session is possible.

Beyond 4K and HDR, the Xbox One X will allow for more Black Ops 4 enhancements but as of now, the nature of those are unknown.

So, long story short, if you have Call of DutyBlack Ops 4, a 4K TV and an Xbox One X, you will be able to play the game in 4K and HDR.
