CoD Black Ops 4 Blackout Merits: How to Get Merits & Level Up

How to Level Up in CoD Black Ops 4 Blackout & Get Merits Fast

Recommended Videos

This year, Activision and Treyarch are doing something a little different with the latest entry in the Call of Duty franchise. Instead of including a single-player story campaign like they do each year, we’ve got three fully fleshed out multiplayer modes. We’ll still be getting the core multiplayer modes and Zombies, as well as a brand new battle royale mode called Blackout. If you’re wondering how exactly to get Merits and level up in CoD Black Ops 4 Blackout, here’s what you need to know.

Unlike the multiplayer and Zombies modes, you don’t get experience points for every little thing you do in Blackout. In those modes, you’ll get experience not only for getting kills, but also completing objectives. Because of that, even if you aren’t very mechanically skilled at first-person shooter games, it’s still relatively easy for you to level up at a decent pace. Unfortunately, Blackout is a little bit different from those modes.

When you’re first starting out in Blackout, you’ll need a total of 100 Merits to get to the next level. Merits are the experience points you need for this mode, and once you’ve accrued enough of them, you’ll progress.

Earning Merits in Black Ops 4 Blackout

In Black Ops 4 Blackout, you’ll gain 50 Merits for reaching the top 10 in a match, and you’ll get even more for winning the entire thing. In addition to that, you’ll also gain 10 Merits for every kill you get in a match. So, simply put, if you manage to kill a ton of players in a single match of Blackout, you’ll get a lot of Merits, thus allowing you to level up fast.

At the end of a match in Blackout, whether you win or lose, you’ll see a progression bar showing you all of your achievements during that match, along with how many Merits you’ve earned. It’ll fill up your progression bar accordingly, and once you have enough Merits to reach the next threshold, you’ll be able to level up in Blackout.

In addition to just racking up kills to get Merits in Black Ops 4 Blackout, you’ll also be able to unlock characters by completing special challenges within a match. For instance, some of the Specialists like Torque and Recon can be unlocked as playable characters in Blackout.
