Nintendo had a whole lot of Final Fantasy news to share during today’s Nintendo Direct, one of which was a brand new version of World of Final Fantasy, titled World of Final Fantasy Maxima. There aren’t a ton of details yet as to what makes Maxima different from the original game, but we do know one detail called Avatar Change.
By using this Avatar Change ability the main character will be able to turn into a famous character from the Final Fantasy series. Three characters were shown off in the short trailer, Zack, Noctis, and Yuna. It should be noted that neither Zack or Noctis were featured at all in the original World of Final Fantasy. We’ll make sure to update you with more details as they become available.
World of Final Fantasy Maxima is set to launch on Nintendo Switch on Nov. 6, 2018. During the direct, Nintendo also announced that Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition releases on the system today and Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: Everybuddy hits the system this winter. In 2019 we can also expect to see Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age all hit the system.
