Valkyria Chronicles 4 takes players back to the Second European War all over again, just as fans took part in back in the original game. This time around, however, you’re seeing things from a separate perspective, with a new set of characters to get to know. Ultimately, though, the action remains the same. You’ll take part in turn-based battles where you must move your units around the battlefield in order to wipe out the enemy forces, or clear other objectives. Lose all of your units and it’s game over. As such, it’s of paramount importance that you keep your units as healthy as possible, and one of the best ways you can do that is to crouch in order to make your units more difficult targets to hit. Here’s what you need to know to crouch in Valkyria Chronicles 4.

If you want to have a character crouch in Valkyria Chronicles 4, it’s worth noting that you can’t just do it at any time. Instead, you can only crouch when behind sandbags or some other sort of cover.

When a character runs up to sandbags in Valkyria Chronicles 4, all you need to do is press X to crouch behind it. This’ll provide you with better cover, reducing the chance that your unit will be hit by any incoming attacks. Particularly handy if there’s a pesky sniper trying to pick off your units as you push forward across the battlefield.

Aside from that, there’s not a whole lot more you need to know to crouch in Valkyria Chronicles 4. Good luck out there soldiers, the crouch can be an incredibly useful move to have at your disposal in some scenarios, so never forget about it.
