According to a report from CNN, the earthquake struck the northern part of Hokkaido today, resulting in at least four deaths and the burying of multiple homes under the rubble. As a result of the earthquake, most parts of the island are also experiencing an electrical and power outage.

‘Dozens of people were injured by the quake, mostly in Sapporo, said Kazuya Isaki, an official with the Crisis Management Office of Hokkaido Prefecture Government. Around 31 people are missing in Atsuma, near the epicenter of the quake.

Nearly 3 million households lost power, according to the Hokkaido Electric Power Company. Officials said a main power station lost operations, affecting other sites. Independently owned power generators were assisting.’

Nintendo has not specified when the Direct will be aired, but we’ll keep you updated as more info comes our way.
