PlayStation has announced that Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4 is now the fastest-selling first-party PlayStation exclusive, selling over 3.3 million units in the first three days of release, beating out previous title holder, God of War, which released back in May selling just over 3 million units globally.
USA Today mentions that with the title’s $60 price tag, we can estimate that the game has made over $198 million, meaning this game’s opening weekend has won over the opening weekend for Spider-Man: Homecoming which managed to rake in $117 million at the box office. Homecoming stars Tom Holland and is the first entry in the new Spider-Man film series that takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Spider-Man for PS4 is Insomniac’s take on the web-slinging superhero that –when looking at review scores– has never gotten a truly excellent adaption in the video game world, until now. With this new telling of Peter Parker’s story, Insomniac Games has managed to craft the best rendition of the Marvel hero that we’ve ever seen and with the sales numbers being so high and all, we can expect that a sequel is in the works.
