Following the release of a new trailer, Square Enix Tweeted out an image of the official cover art for the game, designed by none other than the series’ creator himself, Tetsuya Nomura. Sticking with the trend of the first two games, the art paints the main characters together against a starry night background, set in some kind of cityscape. Nearly all of the main characters from the series are represented here; Sora, Kairi, Riku, Aqua, Ventus, Terra, Roxas, Axel, Shion, Donald, Goofy, Mickey, and Namine. Check it out just below.
As we draw closer to the launch of #KingdomHearts III we'd like to show you all the cover art for the game!
This stunning piece, featuring a number of iconic characters, was created by series director Tetsuya Nomura.#KH3sharethemagic

It’s definitely a nostalgic throwback that should directly appeal to any fans that have been following the series since the beginning. It’s not entirely clear what the location on the box art is, if an actual location in the game at all. It could be an updated version of Twilight Town, or the World That Never Was, or even an entirely new location. It’s too hard to say right now, and we certainly haven’t seen the exact location in the art in any of the trailers so far.
Kingdom Hearts III launches on January 29 for PS4 and Xbox One. Make sure you also get a look at the newly released trailer for the game, which provides a more detailed look at the Big Hero 6 world, and even the return of a few surprise faces like Demyx and Roxas.
