While the standard pass into the feet of your teammates can be incredibly handy in FIFA 19, sometimes a through pass is what you need in order to catch your opposition off-guard on the break. It’s particularly effective if you’ve got fast forwards or wingers who can outpace your opponent’s defense. Sometimes even a through pass isn’t quite enough, and that’s where a threaded through pass comes into play. Here’s all there is you need to know to do a threaded through pass in FIFA 19 to put your forwards through on goal easily.

Done at the right time in FIFA 19, a threaded through pass can slice your opponent’s defense right in half, leaving you with a ton of space to run into and slot it past the keeper.

In order to do a threaded through pass in FIFA 19, all you need to do is hold R1 on PS4 or RB on Xbox One, and then press Triangle (Y on Xbox One) to get the right amount of power on the ball. That last bit’s important. If you’re trying to play a threaded through pass to a player 30 yards away, you’re going to need to put significantly more power on it than you would if they were making a run just a few feet away from your player.

In terms of when to play a threaded through pass in FIFA 19, you’ll want to do so just as your player is making their run past the defender. But you’ve only got a short window of time to play a threaded through pass in FIFA 19. Too soon and the defender can close it down more easily. Too late and your player may have sprinted into an offside position.

You want to play a threaded through pass as soon as your player is in-line with the last defender, or the one closest to them. Get it just right and the player receiving the ball should sprint into open space, and you’ll be given control of them so you can carry on your move. Pair this up with Timed Finishing shots, and you’ll be a goal-scoring machine in no time. Or, if you’re feeling particularly classy, embarrass your opponent with a bicycle kick. That’ll show ’em!
