Halo: The Master Chief Collection, released for the Xbox One in November 2014, contains four titles of the Halo franchise in one package: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4. The campaign of spin-off title Halo 3: ODST can also be purchased as downloadable content. All games in the collection have been upgraded for Xbox One with 1080p resolution and 60 frames-per-second.

The game will receive a huge update when it hits the pass in September, including previously announced features tested in the Xbox Insider program such as improved matchmaking, offline LAN support, faster load times, and Xbox One X enhancements with up to 4K UHD resolution and high-dynamic-range (HDR). Microsoft also said on stage that the collection will also receive a custom game browser in a future update.

It joins Halo 5: Guardians, the other Xbox One Halo title, already in Xbox Game Pass which means the entire mainline Halo series can be played through the pass alone. Microsoft is currently promoting the subscription service by offering two months of Xbox Game Pass at $2 for non-members until Aug. 31. The company is also offering two months of Xbox Live Gold for $2 during the same time.
