How to Get New Skills & Special Moves in Guacamelee 2

Recommended Videos

If our favorite Lucha Libre wrestler is going to save the world once again in Guacamelee 2, our boy Juan’s gonna need some fresh new skills and special moves. While he starts out being more than capable of holding his own against the enemies towards the start of the game, other enemies and obstacles may require you to be that little bit stronger, or require a particular special move in order to defeat them. Here’s what you need to know to get new skills and upgrades in Guacamelee 2.

First off, it’s important to note that before you can learn any new skills or special moves in Guacamelee 2, you’ll need to at least get the first 30 minutes or so of the game completed, until you’ve returned from the world of the dead for the first time (after you get the mask). Shortly after this point, you’ll be informed by one spritely NPC on your way that he has some skills that you can help to make yourself stronger. To access it, you want to access Guacamelee 2’s menu by pressing the touchpad on PS4.

From here, you want to go to the Skills option. Some of the NPCs which you’ve met along the way will have a tree of new skills you can use. However, it’s worth noting that these will require a good bit of money in order to purchase, and some have other prerequisites you’ll need to complete before you can unlock them. The price and a list of these prerequisites is given once you’ve highlighted a particular skill you’re after.

As for unlocking special moves in Guacamelee 2, you’ll need to break large stone statues, the first of which will grant you Rooster Uppercut. Other special moves in Guacamelee 2 can be unlocked by meeting those odd goat men that amble about the Mexiverse. Fear not, though, as these special moves cannot be missed in the game.

That’s all you need to know to get new skills and upgrades in Guacamelee 2. For more tips, tricks, and information on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
