In response to a question from an investor about the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 2, its sales potential and the chance of more remakes in the future, Capcom responded that they were optimistic it would see sales in the millions based in no small part on the positive reception it met at E3 2018. The company plans to help ensure this by working on their promotional strategy for the game leading up to its release. In terms of other IPs getting remakes though, the company let slip they may have big plans for its many noteworthy series.

“Further, regarding remakes and rereleases of titles in our back catalog, we expect to explore these further with a variety of properties as a part of our strategy to utilize our library of IP,” the company wrote.

The news comes off of what has been a fruitful few years for Capcom. In addition to the positive critical and fan reception to their reboot of the Resident Evil franchise in 2017, the company has also seen mass appeal to Monster Hunter World, which quickly sold millions of copies and helped the company’s stocks reach their highest value since 2001.
