Much like the first game, The Division 2’s campaign until its end game content can be played entirely in single-player.
In an interview with AusGamers, game director Mathias Karlson said The Division 2 can be played from start to end without asking help from your friends. “You can play through the entire story campaign into end-game and [then the] end-game [content], alone,” said Karlson. [But] you can also do the same content [in] two, three, or four player co-op.”
Additionally, while The Division 2 is an online-only multiplayer-centric game, Karlson said “there’s no right or wrong way to play The Division.”
It wasn’t made clear if regular end game missions will be adjusted accordingly for solo players to tackle, and whether eight-player raids can be completed alone. Looking back at the original game’s launch in 2016, end game missions were almost impossible to tackle alone, with enemies taking hours to kill but can drop you quickly in a few bullets. All it took were one to two shotgun blasts in end game missions for players to get sent back to the last checkpoint.
Developed by Massive Entertainment, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is scheduled to launch on March 15, 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A beta will be made available before the game hits shelves.
