Is There New Game Plus in Octopath Traveler? What You Need to Know

Recommended Videos

Octopath Traveler is the stylish, retro-looking RPG that’s just hit the Nintendo Switch courtesy of the folks over at Square Enix. Harking back to the golden era of JRPGs, the game adopts classic 2D sprite visuals, and engaging turn-based combat with a twist to keep things feeling modern. This isn’t a short game you’re going to blast through in no time at all, though. In fact, there are eight different protagonists each with their own unique abilities and origin stories. As such, you may be wondering whether or not Octopath Traveler has a new game plus mode so that you can play through all of their stories without having to lose all your awesome gear and high-level characters.

We’re sad to say that Octopath Traveler does not have new game plus. Though this may come as disappointing news to some, at least you always have the option to start Octopath Traveler over with a new character and follow their story instead to see the differences. Once that’s done, simply choose the next character and so one. There are particular characters that are more difficult to use, so it’d definitely be worthwhile going through the game a few times before choosing these as your main protagonist.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that, thanks to the advances of technology, a post-launch update could always add new game plus as an option in Octopath Traveler should the developer feel it’d work in the game and the demand is there. For now, this is just speculation, but if we do hear anything we’ll be sure to update this post and let you know.

That’s about everything you need to know regarding new game plus in Octopath Traveler. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
