How to Turn on Permadeath Mode in No Man’s Sky
No Man’s Sky can be extremely chill or extremely not chill. It all depends on how you’d want to play. The options will be available to you, as a player. The newest mode – added with an update to the game – adds permadeath. Losing all your stuff when you die? Sounds great and like it won’t at all be frustrating! Perfect for rogue-like fans, right? Look, if you want to be in constant fear for your life while playing the game, I won’t stop you. In fact, I’ll help you. Here’s how you can enable this way to play.
All you need to do to turn permadeath on is to select it when you first start up a new game and have the option to choose your difficulty. You’ll see it in that preliminary screen and it will let you know all that entails playing with permadeath on. Here are the unique rules:
- All of your progress will be wiped upon your death.
- All the increased hazards and dangers that Survival Mode has are brought into this mode, too. This means limited resources, more hazardous weather, and stronger aggressive creatures.
It’s a really tough one, but there are trophies involved with getting to the center of the universe with it on. So keep that in mind when selecting your difficulty if you’re a trophy hunter. You won’t get a second chance to switch it up, unfortunately.
That’s all there is to turning on that permadeath difficulty in No Man’s Sky! Need more help with the game, though? No problem! We have your back.
