Is There a PvP Mode in No Man’s Sky NEXT? What You Need to Know
Nearly two years after No Man’s Sky’s initial launch on PlayStation 4, Hello Games has released the NEXT update, which will hopefully bring the game to the state many hoped it would be back in 2016. Not only has it finally come to Xbox One, but the NEXT update brings with it improved graphics and the ability to build anywhere on the infinite number of planets. However, arguably the biggest addition that the update brings is the integration of full co-op multiplayer. You can join up with your friends to complete missions, take on enemies in the vast space, or simply explore the unique worlds the game creates. You may be wondering, therefore, whether the multiplayer offerings now include a PvP mode of any kind, so that you can take on your friends in combat. Well, here’s everything that you need to know.
To start, you can of course face off against other players, but unfortunately, the multiplayer component added to No Man’s Sky by the NEXT update is entirely co-op based. That is to say that there’s no set PvP mode. The idea of it is that you work together to make life easier for everyone, sharing tasks and providing protection. There’s the very small possibility that you come across another player while exploring and you can attack them, of course, but there’s no specific maps or modes for playing PvP.
However, considering the size of the NEXT update and what you can do with a friend now, there’s more than enough to see and do that there is not much need for a PvP mode. Of course, there’s always the possibility that it could be added in the future, and we will let you know here if that is ever the case.
That’s all there is to know for whether or not there is a PvP mode in No Man’s Sky. For more tips and tricks, be sure to check out our wiki guide.
