Is No Man’s Sky NEXT Cross Play Compatible? Here’s What You Need to Know
NEXT is the latest update for No Man’s Sky, and it’s by far and away the meatiest content drop since the game’s launch. Where Pathfinder and Atlas added new mechanics and story elements, NEXT completely overhauls the game’s aesthetic, tweaks and adds new systems, and adds the multiplayer component to the game that players have been asking for. Groups of up to four players can now traverse the universe, exploring together either cooperatively or fighting in PvP action. You can also be joined by random travelers as you play through the game on your own, too. The online functionality of the game now has players wondering exactly how No Man’s Sky’s servers interact with each other and whether cross play will allow them to be joined by explorers playing on different platforms. Here’s what you need to know about whether No Man’s Sky NEXT is cross play compatible.
As far as we know, No Man’s Sky NEXT does not feature any sort cross play between platforms. There has been no reference to such a feature in any official capacity that we have seen. That doesn’t mean that it certainly doesn’t exist or couldn’t in the future, but we haven’t seen anything to confirm it as of yet. You’d have to imagine that cross play between Xbox and PS4 would be very unlikely, though between PC and console maybe less so.
