Fortnite New SMG: What You Need to Know

What You Need to Know About the New SMG in Fortnite

Recommended Videos

With it being a Tuesday and everything, it means that Fortnite’s due for a new content update. The 5.0 content update arrived earlier this morning, and while it didn’t pack a whole ton of changes to weapon balancing or gameplay, there’s still some important changes in here, especially regarding the SMGs in Fortnite. Sadly, for anyone who was a fan of the old Tactical SMG, it’s been Vaulted, meaning that it’s no longer in the game and while it could come back at some point in the future, it’s probably unlikely. In its wake, there’s a new SMG to accommodate to your close-combat fast-firing needs, so here’s what you need to know about the new SMG in Fortnite.

First things first, let’s run through the important stats that we know about the new SMG so far in Fortnite.

  • Rarity – Common, Uncommon, Rare
  • Base Damage – 19-21
  • Ammo Type – Light
  • Clip Size – 30

Outside of that the 5.0 content update patch notes don’t really tell us a whole lot else about the new SMG. However, the in-game New Updates page informs us that it has “a fast rate of fire and improved mobility.”

Having spent some time using just the common version of the new SMG, we can confirm that this thing is a beast. In fact, we’d be very surprised if it doesn’t get nerfed in the near future. Its improved mobility allows you to look around when aiming down sights faster, which in turn allows you to track your target more easily when they’re bouncing around you. Further, the new SMG’s fire rate is insanely quick, with very little recoil. It’ll shred for 100 damage in literal seconds and will hardly recoil the entire time.

That’s all you need to know about the new SMG in Fortnite. For more tips, tricks, and information, be sure to check out our Season 5 wiki.
