How to Play Co-Op Multiplayer in Mario Tennis Aces

Recommended Videos

Mario Tennis Aces features a few different ways to play together with a friend via co-op multiplayer. Keep in mind that while you totally can play co-op with a friend, you won’t be able to work together in the game’s story, Adventure Mode.

Moving on, to play co-op multiplayer in Mario Tennis Aces, you simply need to visit the Free Play section of the main menu. From there, you can set up a doubles match up against the computer, or with two other friends. Just select single-console play (or local play if you have more than one Switch), and use the directional pad to set the correct number of players. After that, you’ll be asked to set up your Joy-Cons. If you’re playing with yourself and one other friend, you can use two pairs of Joy-Cons split up. Anymore than that and you’ll likely be playing with the Joy-Cons split horizontally (which works just fine). After that, you can change the rules by pressing +/-. Select doubles, and you’ll be up against the computer in a doubles match. You can also set other rules such as whether you’re playing with sets or tie-breakers.

You can also play co-op in Swing Mode too, just follow the same instructions as above, but select Swing Mode in the main menu instead. In Swing Mode you’ll be using the motion controls instead.
