PINE – NEW YORK EXCELSIOR – WIDOWMAKER

Recommended Videos

Pine is well-known for his high accuracy skills on McCree, but this past week he also showed off his snipes on Widowmaker to help New York Excelsior win against Philadelphia Fusion at the start of the week and nearly beat the standings leaders Los Angeles Valiant on Saturday in a close 2-3.

He played exceptionally well as the hero against Valiant during the Oasis map, as above we can see him outsmart the enemy team from a perfect and hidden angle to get a 4k while killing the enemy Widow SoOn twice. Pine is good at finding sneaky angles to break down enemy lines, as you can see him adjust his placement on the map as soon as he sees Fate as Orisa set up her shield to pick them off easily from behind without the tanks even noticing.

Hi ability to move about his environment with Widow’s grappling hook is also next level. Above we see him try out a clever new way to flank at the end of Gibraltar, which grants him a kill and a decent distraction as his team moves the payload further, all while escaping with his life.

Above we see his use of movement in the earlier match against Fusion when he launches himself in towards Carpe who is also playing as Widowmaker and catches him entirely by surprise. Somehow he is able to land a headshot at extremely close rage, and finishes off with a couple more headshots in a span of a few seconds as well to secure the payload.

uNKOE – DALLAS FUEL – ZENYATTA

For the first time ever, uNKOE has made out list for best player performances in the Overwatch League as one of his signature heroes Zenyatta. Back in April he was traded to Dallas Fuel in exchange for Custa from Los Angeles Valiant, and his performance this week proves that change could be working in favor for Dallas coming into stage four.

What stood out the most about uNKOE this week was his consistency in landing Zenyatta’s sometime tricky headshots, especially on more mobile characters like Genji or an ulting Mercy. Above we see arguably his best play of the week on Horizon Lunar Colony where he absolutely went off and got a 4k taking out Gesture as Reinhardt, Bdosin as Sombra, Birdring as Widowmaker, and finally NUS as Mercy while he was in-air using his ult. The accuracy to pull all that off in only 20 or so seconds is definitely something to be noted, especially considering he is technically playing a support character.

Another nod to his ability to finish off high mobile characters is seen above where he survives a thrashing Birdring as Genji in a Dragonblade as he dodges and throws orbs perfectly to finish him off in midair.

He was also one of the Players of the Day on Saturday alongside LiNkzr from Houston Outlaws, with specific praise given to his confidence as a support backline in combination with his ability to stay alive and put off those high numbers of damage that Zenyatta is known for in the league.

CARPE – PHILADELPHIA FUSION – WIDOWMAKER

Carpe has been on our best Overwatch League players list for his skills on Tracer before, but today marks the first time we recognize his amazing sniping abilities as Widowmaker in both the Wednesday match against New York Excelsior and on Friday against Los Angeles Gladiators.

Some of his most noteworthy plays we can see above where Carpe pulls off a 180 spin to kill the enemy Tracer in midair on Blizzard World, and below where he lands three perfect headshots in a row on Dorado to split the team in half single-handedly.

Despite his team losing both matches last week, Carpe still played extraordinarily well and no doubt played a big role in Fusion getting at least one point against the Gladiators during that match. For example, see below where he skillfully flanked with sufficient coverage to quickly kill off Surefour as Widow and Shaz as Zenyatta before grappling up the air while landing shots on an uting BigGoose as Mercy before finally landing the killing blow, thus giving his team the next checkpoint easily as they push on Dorado.

Carpe was one of the Players of the Day on Friday alongside Bischu, with Overwatch League commentator Matthew Morello saying, “He played lights out, his Widowmaker was unreal. He kept Philadelphia in the series… he finishes with 20 final blows towards the end of that match (against Los Angeles Gladiators), unreal game from Carpe in a loss.”

AGILITIES – LOS ANGELES VALIANT – GENJI

Agilities had another fantastic week not just on one of his signature heroes Genji, but on a number of others and thereby showing off his ability for versatility and variety with the array of skills on each given character he can bring to the table.

Known as the king of the Dragonblade, the first play to note is seen above where he gets a quick 3k with the ult taking out BigGoose as Mercy, Hydration as Brigitte, and finally Fissure on Winston for the Gladiators as they scamper for spawn on Horizon Lunar Colony. Agilities’ ability to pull his Dragonblade out at the absolutely perfect time is why he is such a dangerous opponent on Genji, as it’s unusual for him to not at least get one or two kills with each given use.

Getting to other characters he also had some amazing plays with, above we see him get the clutchest of all Rip-Tires as Junkrat to get a 2k on the point in Nepal to finish off overtime, and then below we see him as Doomfist on Oasis to absolutely roll-house the Gladiators to get a 3k once again in a super clutch overtime.

He was also one of the Players of the Day on Wednesday alongside teammate SoOn of Valiant, with credit going to the super tight DPS skills of both players and specifically Agilities’ plays as both Pharah and Genji in the second half of the match.

OGE – DALLAS FUEL – REINHARDT

For the final standout player of stage four week three, OGE from Dallas Fuel proved himself worthy for his noteworthy plays as Reinhardt against London Spitfire on Saturday and San Francisco Shock on Thursday.

Starting with the match against Spitfire, OGE’s best play of the day can be seen above where he completely shuts down the enemy team’s push at the end of Gibraltar by pulling off a successful 2k Earth Shatter and body blocking the newly spawned enemies from entering the fight. This sort of in-game situation is one in which Reinhardt is set up to shine, and OGE’s skills on he character ensured he knew exactly what abilities to use at any given moment to stop every single enemy from touching that payload in its final inches.

While OGE played consistently well as Reinhardt throughout the match against Shock, two particular plays stand out from his game time on Thursday. The first is seen above where OGE combos perfectly with teammate Mickie as Zarya in taking out the enemy Reinhardt first before throwing down a massive Earth Shatter which then scoops up the survivors easily with Zarya’s Grav. Plays like this show off OGE and Mickie’s ability for team communication to land legitimate and premeditated kills.

Secondly, in a slightly later play seen below on Hanamura where he almost single-handedly gives Dallas the second point by killing sinatraa as Brigitte with a Fire Strike, landing a super long pin on Architect as Genji, Earth Shattering on Super as Winston, and then rushing back to the point to kill ChoiHyoBin as D.Va and Moth as Ana with yet another Fire Strike and stuns sinatraa on his way back with a pin to kill him again as well. All of this happened within a span of 23 seconds, showing off OGE’s ability to balance Reinhardt’s abilities to use them each at precisely the right moment to land kill after kill for his team.

For more stellar performances in the Overwatch League, you can check out the best players from week one and week two of stage four where you are likely to see even more Widowmaker and Genji players.
