Where is Hawkeye?

5 Burning Questions We Still Have After Avengers: Infinity War

Jeremy Renner, Hawkeye, avengers, actors

A key member of the Avengers, Hawkeye has been with the team through thick and thin. While he doesn’t possess the same supernatural abilities like the rest of the group, he’s more than capable of holding his own against some of the most powerful enemies in the MCU. That being said, his presence would have been a huge help during the battle against Thanos. So where was he?

Did our favorite archer decide to bow out from the fight and escape with his family? It wouldn’t make much sense, especially following the events of Civil War. Clint is a family man, no doubt. But he’s also a man who loves his planet and is willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to keep it safe. Interestingly enough, it seems like the writers are setting up his own arc in the MCU, starting with his disappearance in Avengers: Infinity War.

Marvel’s Joe Russo has confirmed that Hawkeye is off on his own little journey, and couple that with the Avengers: Infinity War post-credits scene, it seems like he was off trying to get in contact with Captain Marvel. Still, we’d like to know just what exactly he went through, be it through a solo film or his own complete arc in Avengers 4. The poor guy just can’t seem to catch a break, though.

When is Ant-Man and the Wasp Set?

5 Burning Questions We Still Have After Avengers: Infinity War

Like Valkyrie and Hawkeye, Ant-Man was another important hero who was missing out on all the action. But unlike Hawkeye, we’ll learn more about his side of the story much sooner. With his solo film set for July, Ant-Man will be back in action with a brand new partner, the Wasp. One question that lingers after Avengers: Infinity War, however, is when the film takes place.

After the events of the third Avengers movie, we see half of Earth’s population slowly fading to dust. Heroes such as Scarlet Witch, Black Panther, and even Nick Fury were victims of Thanos’ grand scheme. So where does this leave the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp, then? From the upcoming film’s first trailer, the pair talks about Lang’s recent involvement with Captain America, which could be hinting that it actually takes place before Avengers: Infinity War.

With the duo tackling the quantum realm in the next film, it’s possible that time might move differently in that dimension. If so, Ant-Man and the Wasp might have been inside the quantum realm during the events of Avengers: Infinity War, sparing them from Thanos’ wrath. Whatever the case, we won’t have to wait too long to learn the truth.

What are Scarlet Witch’s Powers?

5 Burning Questions We Still Have After Avengers: Infinity War

Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff has proven to be one of the most powerful members of the Avengers. She can control these red… things that look like flames, granting her abilities such as teleportation and levitation. Not only that, but she apparently also has the ability to destroy Infinity Stones. Fittingly enough, she actually received her powers from an Infinity Stone – the Mind Stone, in particular.

But… what does she do, exactly? Is it magic? If it is, her abilities sure aren’t as fleshed out and defined as Doctor Strange’s Mystic Arts. Does she shoot energy bolts? Perhaps she wields some sort of cosmic energy? Or since her abilities stem from the Mind Stone, does she share some kind of telepathic ability similar to Mantis’ empathic powers?

Her powers are pretty much out there with no solid reasoning behind it, save for the fact that it came from an Infinity Stone. Be that as it may, Marvel’s labeled her as a witch, so her spellwork has to do something with magic. Here’s hoping we get to see the extent of her powers in a possible House of M storyline in the near future.

Why Did Doctor Strange Give Up the Time Stone?

5 Burning Questions We Still Have After Avengers: Infinity War

Doctor Strange made it pretty clear throughout the film that he would protect the Time Stone with his life. He even went as far as to tell Tony Stark that he would pick the stone if it ever came down to saving either Iron Man, Spider-Man, and the Time Stone. Yet, in a rather shocking turn of events, the wizard decided to trade Tony’s life in exchange for the stone during their confrontation with Thanos. His actions eventually led to Thanos grabbing the last stone and completing the gauntlet.

Is Doctor Strange the true villain in the story? Okay, maybe that’s going too far. But we really have to ask ourselves, why did he do it? On top of that, why didn’t he use it during their battle on the Titan? He could have easily reversed time when Star-Lord went ballistic after learning of Gamora’s death. If he did manage to reverse time and push through with their original plan, Thanos wouldn’t have the gauntlet and the heroes could have easily saved the day. Or would they? One popular theory seems to think otherwise.

Before disappearing, Doctor Strange managed to muster up a few last words, “It was the only way.” It’s important to remember that he looked into the future before their big fight, witnessing all 14 million possibilities before coming to the conclusion that there was only one outcome where the heroes would win. Going by that logic, perhaps Strange already knew what he was getting himself into. Yes, he might have let Thanos win the battle, but that doesn’t mean that he had won the war. Giving the Time Stone could have been Strange’s way of setting the stage for their imminent victory in Avengers 4.

Why Hasn’t Fury Called Captain Marvel Sooner?

5 Burning Questions We Still Have After Avengers: Infinity War

Nick Fury, Avengers: Infinity War

Marvel is gearing up for Captain Marvel, next year. Her standalone film is said to be her origin story which takes place in the 90’s. Moving forward, it seems pretty clear that the heroine is already an established hero (maybe even an Avengers member) before the events of Avengers: Infinity War. Heck, she might have even been doing her fair share of hero work before the first Iron Man film in 2008.

At the end of Avengers: Infinity War, we see Nick Fury taking out a pager that contacts Captain Marvel, possibly in an effort to ask for her help. With her possibly being an established hero already, why hadn’t he called her up in the past? Why did he have to wait for half the world to disappear before asking for her help? Wasn’t the Battle of New York a good enough reason to page her? No? Okay, how about when an army of Ultron robots were running around wrecking havoc and killing thousands of innocent people? With her help, the Avengers probably could have avoided plenty of sticky situations over the past 10 years.

Maybe she was on a vacation – hero duties do get pretty stressful sometimes. In any case, we’ll learn more about Captain Marvel and her mysterious absence in her upcoming film next year. It looks like she’ll also be picking up the slack since she’s already slated to appear in Avengers 4, which will release a few months after her film.
