Minecraft

There you are, wandering across the blocky plains of the wild savannah. You dig up some rocks along the way, hoping to find something valuable hidden deep within the soil. You’ve never ventured out this far before, and you’re uncertain what may lurk around the corner. A mountain lies before you, so compelled by reasons beyond your own understanding, you begin to climb it. Higher you get, until you finally reach the peak, unveiling a sight so glorious, your mortal soul begins to shake with giddiness.
What could it be? Why, it’s a gigantic effigy of the much-maligned Microsoft Office assistant Clippy, of course. Minecraft is just like that sometimes.
Much like Roblox, Minecraft is a sandbox for you to test the limits of your creativity, giving you the tools to build absolutely anything you’d like. Some of the most lavish constructions defy belief, though most of us will be happy just to have a roof over our head to stop creepers from killing us in the night. Seriously, screw those guys – they’re terrifying.
Garry’s Mod

What is Garry’s Mod? It’s whatever you make of it, really. Import your models from any Source engine game, then do with them as you please. It’s ultra moddable and delightfully pointless fun, depending on what angle you come at it from, and how much time you’re willing to invest in it.
If you’re unsure of where to start, a quick scan of the Steam Workshop reveals just how much potential Garry’s Mod holds. It’s at this point, you begin to realize, it’s not so much a game in and of itself, but a platform upon which to make whatever kind of game you please. First-person shooter? Sure! Wacky racing shenanigans? You betcha! Spooky murder mystery? Well, I threw that out there as a joke, but lo and behold, you can do that, too.
Stop underestimating the sheer majesty of Garry’s Mod, and join the sensation.
Growtopia

Just take one look at the summary given for Growtopia, and you’ll know what you’re in for: Growtopia is a multiplayer sandbox platformer with crafting. There are no goals, just an infinite number of worlds where you create whatever you want with all your friends. Most things in Growtopia grow on trees – Dirt Trees, Lava Trees and of course Jetpack Trees.
That’s right, boys and girls, it’s a chance for you to jump on in and create your own fun. The tree gimmick is a fun touch, though one begins to wonder the sensibility of having access to a lava tree. That’s bound to end in tears.
Growtopia is a free-to-play MMO built specifically for mobile gaming, and is a good candidate to capture the attention of Roblox fans itching for a chance to spread their wings. And hey, don’t be scared off by the unknown nature of the developers, Ubisoft thought enough of the idea to acquire it in 2017. If it’s good enough for the people who blessed the world with Rabbid Peach, it’s good enough for us.
Kerbal Space Program

Once you’ve graduated from Roblox, it may be time to tackle something a little more distinguished, and Kerbal Space Program is just the ticket to get in your creative fill, while also expanding your mind. Plus, the Kerbals are cute, and that’s always a plus.
One of the most compelling factors of this game is its realistic physics engine, which allows you to simulate actual orbital maneuvers. If you’ve ever been intrigued by the idea of going into space, but you’re not one of the eccentric billionaires who are able to throw money at the idea like pennies into a fountain, you may have to settle for the Kerbals.
But never you worry, for any disastrous crashes won’t cost you your life or your livelihood, you won’t have to deal with the cold loneliness that is outer space, and Kerbal Space Program has a mod where you can add jack-o’lanterns that serve no discernible purpose. Take that, Musk, we’ve got pumpkins to spare!
LittleBigPlanet 3

Build a playground, make the rules, share it with the public, and watch as they grow to hate you for your cruel, vindictive ways. The LittleBigPlanet series is a charming opportunity to flex your muscles as a level designer, and offers vibrant stages with enemies, power-ups, swinging and swimming. In the third edition, the standard playable Sackboy is joined by a few special pals to help spruce things up; OddSock the wall-jumping pooch, Swoop the airborne bird, and Toggle, capable of shifting his size to suit the situation. He is also able to get into both nightclubs and bouncing castles with equal degrees of success.
And if you’re feeling devoid of imagination (we’re all like that sometimes), you can test your mettle in the ultra-challenging single-player campaign. Maybe you’ll get some ideas that you can then steal for your own levels? We won’t tell anyone your dirty little secret.
