God of War is a pretty lengthy game, and the story will take you around 30 hours to beat. If you’re still looking for things to do after that, we’ve got you covered. Here are things to do after beating God of War (both post game and endgame content).
Go Home
What to Do After Beating God of War (Post Game & Endgame)
This might sound like a weird one, but it’s definitely worth your time to head straight home right after you’ve completed the main story in God of War and have seen the ‘credits’ roll.
There’s more dialogue to listen to on the way back to Kratos’ house, and also a short scene that gives players a quick hint of what other foes Kratos has yet to face.
After you’ve done that, it might also be worth it to head over to Freya’s house. There’s nothing to collect there, but you do get a bit of extra dialogue from Mimir and Atreus about what transpired between you two.
Backtrack and Revisit Midgard
What to Do After Beating God of War (Post Game & Endgame)
Now that you’ve completed the main story in God of War, it’s a good time to revisit locations that you’ve already been to.
By the end of the story, you’ll be equipped with Shock arrows and the Blades of Chaos, giving you all the tools you need to open up optional pathways and unlocking hidden chests that you couldn’t get to before.
This one’s more for the completionists out there who just love collecting every little thing that’s available in the game.
Don’t forget those Nornir chests, either; you’ll need the upgrades if you’re going to take on the game’s most challenging post-game activity.
Complete Your Favors

If you still have any remaining Favors or side missions left over after beating the story, now would be a good time to do them.
The ultimate Dwarven armor quest from Brok and Sindri is still worth doing, even if you already have higher leveled armor.
The new armor set offers some pretty good perks, and can become even stronger if you upgrade it.
Likewise, doing the rest of the Favors is also a worthwhile endeavor if you want to learn more about Midgard and the surrounding realms.
They’ll also provide you with a ton of XP and Hacksilver for the final skills in your skill tree.
Explore the Optional Realms

While journeying through the lands in God of War, you’ll find cipher stones in certain treasure chests. These can be used to unlock other realms for exploration.
In our time playing, we found that Muspelheim and Niflheim were optional areas that we could travel to if we had the necessary ciphers. Simply go to Tyr’s Tower again, and select those.
There’s even more to explore in these realms, filled with new enemies and Favors that you can tackle. The rest of the realms seem to be locked, however.
Realms such as Asgard and Vanarheim can’t be accessed in the game, though it’s entirely possible that we could visit them in a future story expansion.
Defeat the Corrupted Valkyries
What to Do After Beating God of War (Post Game & Endgame)
Once you beat God of War, the game informs you that the locations of all the corrupted Valkyries have been marked on your map. This is a legendary Favor, and it’s also probably the toughest activity there is to do in the game.
The corrupted Valkyries can be found across all of the realms, and they’re indicated by a small purple icon with white wings.
The Valkyries are extremely tough bosses, and will likely pose a much tougher challenge than any other boss you’ve faced in the story, so make sure you’re well-equipped before attempting them.
This quest line is pretty extensive, and provides even more story content surrounding the Valkyries themselves and why they were imprisoned in the first place.
Defeating each one also rewards you with tons of rare materials such as Asgardian Steel, and other rare Enchantments.
Play on the Highest Difficulty
What to Do After Beating God of War (Post Game & Endgame)
It’ll take a while, but once you’ve exhausted everything there is to do in God of War, why not start a new game on the highest difficulty setting?
The normal setting is pretty balanced, but if you found that you weren’t really challenged by the combat, the game’s Give Me God of War difficulty setting should be right up your alley.
Do note that once you select the difficulty setting, you won’t be able to change it in the middle of the game.
