You Can Play All the DLC You Might Have Missed
In the year following the original release of Burnout Paradise in January 2008, eight DLC packs were released as part of the game’s ‘Year of Paradise’. Thankfully, every piece of DLC and every car that was available will be included in the base version of Burnout Paradise Remastered. The DLC packs include Big Surf Island, which is a whole new area that featured nine new vehicles and a whole host of new events. Cops and Robbers, an online game mode that brought with it police variations for 33 of Paradise’s original vehicles. Then, the Party Pack allowed for couch co-op play on top of the already great multiplayer options. The full list of DLC packs that will be available from the get-go in Burnout Paradise Remastered is:

Break All Those Gates and Billboards Again
Paradise City may not be largest open-world in a racing game by 2018 standards, but it still gives you an incredible amount to do. It is the game that made side-activities such an important part of racing games, prompting you to explore and get to know the world. Rather than collecting items or simply discovering new locations, after the races themselves, destroying the billboards and gates that littered Paradise City was what you spent most of your time doing. There will be 165 Billboards to smash in Burnout Paradise Remastered, some of which will be significantly harder than others, and more than 400 sets of yellow gates for you to drive through. They can lead to some spectacular jumps and the discovery of some otherwise unseen places, and you can smash them all again when the remastered version releases.
Explore a Better Looking Paradise City
Paradise City and the additional Big Suff Island were beautiful places when Burnout Paradise first released in early 2008 but, compared to the worlds in games like Forza Horizon 3 and Need for Speed Rivals, they’re certainly showing their age. However, the upcoming remastered version should make Paradise City a place you want to explore once again. On top of being fully remastered, which will improve the visuals dramatically on its own, it will be playable in 4K on Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro. That will make the woodland area around the Observatory and train-line in the north-west hills, and the seaside down by the baseball stadium in the south-east of the city, look better than they have ever done before. Whether you explore on your own, completing the races at every intersection, or with friends online, Paradise City will be given a new lease on life.
Create Even More Spectacular Crashes
The Burnout games are famous for their spectacular crashes. Burnout Paradise may not be as focused on crumbling metal as games like Burnout 3: Revenge, with their linear events based on destruction, but there’s still plenty of opportunity for takedowns. Road Rage events task you with taking down as many other racers as you can in the time limit and there’s also certain racers that you’ll need to hunt for throughout Paradise City and take down. With the visual upgrade that is coming with Burnout Paradise Remastered, which allows you to play at 60fps in 4K on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X, those crashes will look even more spectacular. Cars will crumple in more detail and spin through the air with more grace and beauty than they did a decade ago.
Race While Avril Lavigne Insults Your Girlfriend
You’ll be sure to hear “Take me down to the Paradise City, where the grass is green and the girls are pretty…” frequently but Guns and Roses’ song is not the star of the show. When Burnout Paradise Remastered was finally revealed, the first question on many fans’ lips was “Is Avril Lavigne’s Girlfriend making its return?” Rumors were circulating that some of the licensing deals had expired since the original release, meaning the iconic hit wouldn’t be your go to in-race jam, but EA has confirmed that the full soundtrack will be returning for Burnout Paradise Remastered. The set list can be a vital part of any racing or sports game, with the beat of a song keeping you focused on a race. Avril Lavigne may not be the usual style, but her song is a vital part of the Burnout Paradise experience. It simply wouldn’t feel right without it.
