Metal Gear Survive will be launching in about a month, and Konami has offered up some new details about the zombie co-op game. According to Gamespot, the game will feature microtransactions to help players with farming for resources to improve their base camp.

‘Another detail we learned that Metal Gear Survive will have a microtransaction store where players can purchase virtual currency. Coins are available to purchase with real money (specific price points were not disclosed) or through standard gameplay, as is the case in many other AAA games.’

These microtransactions come in the form of virtual currency, which are used to buy boosters and other resources. These are meant to help speed up the grinding process, so players who don’t wish to spend any real money will be able to earn them in-game anyway. Since there aren’t any competitive modes in the game at the moment, and they don’t seem to play a big part in the single-player campaign, they shouldn’t have too much of an impact on player progress. But only time will tell.

The Metal Gear Survive beta will begin on Jan. 18.
