Here’s How Long it Took Us to Cross Assassin’s Creed Origins Map

A huge open-world.

Assassin's Creed Origins

Assassin’s Creed Origins’ map is absolutely huge. In fact, according to Ubisoft developer Ashraf Ismail, the map is roughly the same size as Black Flag’s, except it is almost entirely land and therefore has a much greater total volume. Ultimately, that boils down to an open-world twice the size of anything seen before in Assassin’s Creed. But to find out just how much distance that translates to with respect to traversal time, Twinfinite has conducted its own test.

In the video below, we ride on horseback in a straight line from one side of Assassin’s Creed Origins’ map to the other to find out exactly how long it takes. The result? Sixteen minutes and eight seconds, which is especially impressive when you consider that we were traveling at least three times walking speed. By comparison, some of the other maps that comprise that largest open-world games of the generation take well over double that time to walk across, but those tests have all been recorded at walking pace. Fallout 4, for example, takes forty-one minutes walking at roughly four miles-per-hour.
