During Nintendo’s Nindie Showcase, Switch owners were given the fantastic news that Travis Touchdown would be making a return to a Nintendo console sometime in 2018. Travis Strikes Back: No More Heroes will mark the comeback of the titular assassin, but with a twist; Grasshopper Manufacture will be teaming up with indie developers to bring famous indie titles like Hotline Miami and Shovel Knight into the new No More Heroes game. The story will revolve around Travis Touchdown and one of his many rivals who gets sucked into a game machine and in which they must complete six indie games to free themselves from the game world.
In an interview with DualShockers, the director on the hack n’ slasher, Suda 51, gave up more details on the title, like the possibility of the game coming to other platforms besides the Switch. When asked about Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes staying exclusive on the Switch, Suda responded with “Yes,” but then he added “Maybe.” The director didn’t have much else to say on that point, but we can assume that the team has been thinking about what comes next once Travis Strikes Again launches on the Switch next year.
The first two No More Heroes games come out exclusively for the Nintendo Wii in 2008 and 2010 respectively but the series wasn’t always on a Nintendo console because back in 2011, an enhanced port of the first game came to PS3 and Xbox 360, complete with PlayStation Move support and improved graphics.
Look out for Travis Strikes Again as it launches in 2018 for the Nintendo Switch.
