Halo 3, Bungie’s finale to the original Halo trilogy, celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this week and current Halo developer 343 Industries is recognizing the event with a new multiplayer playlist for Halo 5: Guardians.
The Halo 3 Classic Throwback playlist is live now and features gameplay that closely mimics Halo 3 with adjusted player settings, the classic loadout of the battle rifle and assault rifle, and Halo 3 maps remade using the Forge tools in Halo 5: Guardians. The limited-time playlist includes these maps: Boundless (Snowbound), Citadel, Ghost Town, Guardian, High Ground, Isolation, and The Pit.
343 Industries reflected on the anniversary in a blog post with a collection of old trailers and recollections from various members of the team and community. The developer and Microsoft kicked off the celebration last week by making four Halo titles for the Xbox 360 – Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4, and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary – backward compatible with the Xbox One. All add-ons for the corresponding games, as well as Halo Wars and Halo: Reach, also became free to download during the summer.
