Bungie announced on Twitter earlier today that Destiny 2 currently has over 1.2 million concurrent players between Xbox One and PlayStation 4. That does not mean it is the total number of players, but how many people are playing the game online at the same time.
Thank you all so much for playing, Guardians! Right now Destiny 2 has over 1.2 Million concurrent players online. We'll see you in the wild.

Destiny 2 released earlier this week on Wednesday, Sept. 6. A good reason behind reaching the large number today is that it is the weekend, when many people are off from work or school. Players will certainly need the time this weekend to gear up for the various Nightfall strikes, raids, and other events that Bungie has revealed for September.
To put the number in perspective, another game that has posted high player numbers this week is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, reaching over one million concurrent players and overtaking Valve’s Dota 2. While the game is only available for PC through Steam Early Access, it has already sold more than 10 million copies since its launch last March.
Destiny 2 is out now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, while the PC version launches Oct. 24. Check out Twinfinite for more Destiny 2 coverage and our ever-expanding wiki for the game.
