Can You Fix PS4 Pro Crashes When Playing Destiny 2?
Although the problem is not universal to all PS4 Pro users, some unlucky players have been affected by crashes and freezes when playing Destiny 2 on PS4 Pro. Crashes have been reported across several different missions, though the most common occurrence seems to be when introduced to Zavala in the opening tutorial mission.
Players are reporting the following Error Code: CE-34878-0
Bungie has recognized the issue and has issued a statement to reassure players that the developer is working on a solution to fix the problem.
Unfortunately, at this time there is no official fix for the crash/error code. Some players on Reddit have suggested that turning off boost mode fixed the issue for them, others claim that turning off the HDCP setting has helped.
In order to turn off boost mode, access your PS4 Pro’s settings menu, then scroll all the way down to System and select it. Find the Boost mode and untick the box.
To turn off HDCP, visit the Settings > System section of the PlayStation 4 interface, and turn off Enable HDCP.
Note that Error Code CE-34878-0 is a generic error that PlayStation has its own official fix for. It might be worth attempting their official troubleshoot in order to try and fix the problem. PlayStation’s guide reads:
- Close the application, install the latest System Software and game updates and restart the system.
- If you have upgraded the Hard Disk Drive (“HDD”) in your system, please re-install the original HDD.
- If the error occurs again, back up your saved data, and then go to [Settings] > [Initialization] and choose [Initialize PS4].
- If the error occurs with every application, or as soon as the application starts, please contact PlayStation Support.
