The Super NES Classic Edition system was announced some time ago and naturally, pre-orders were maxed out in a matter of hours… in the UK at least. Over here in North America, Nintendo fans have been eagerly awaiting pre-orders to go live for the micro console so they can dive into some of the best classic games the console has to offer as well as the never before released Star Fox 2. Yet it’s now August, but there’s still no official pre-orders available. That will soon change, though, according to a Facebook post from the company.
According to Nintendo, the Super NES Classic Edition will finally be made available late in August. On top of that, a “significant amount of additional systems” will be made available at retailers on launch day and will continue to be supplied throughout the year. That’s sure to be music to the ears of millions of fans who have been watching their emails like hawks waiting for an update.
How much a “significant amount” actually is remains to be seen. The regular NES Classic was in high demand but not so high supply, and Nintendo has been accused of keeping stock short on purpose. However, it seems that the company has been learning a lot, and they certainly see how high the demand for this piece of nostalgia is. Hopefully everyone who wants one will be able to get one.
