Sony has set a date for the spin-off film set in the Spider-Man universe ‘Silver and Black’. The film is being directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Secret Life of Bees, Love & Basketball), who will also be rewriting the script. The spin-off will not be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and will serve as a “buddy film” to Spider-Man.
In the comics, Silver Sable is the leader of the Wild Pack, a group that hunts war criminals. Silver has also has had several run-ins with Spider-Man. Blackcat is a skilled burglar who was originally a super-villain but ended up falling in love with Spider-Man. They eventually broke up because Black only liked Peter Parker while in the suit and didn’t care much for the boring high-school student that was the real Peter; even though their relationship stayed complicated, she was one of Spider-Man’s helpful allies.
Silver and Black will release in theaters in February of 2019.
