Ubisoft released a brand new trailer for Assassin’s Creed Origins that shows off some of the historical figures that will be featured in the game when it launches later this year. The eerie and unique sound of Leanard Cohen’s “You Want it Darker,” highlights the darker tone set in the trailer as the game’s main character, Bayek, assassinates an incoming dignitary and Egypt braces for war.
The franchise has been known for including period-appropriate characters in their games. In Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Ubisoft’s last release in the franchise, players met Charles Darwin, Florence Nightingale, Alexander Graham Bell, and Charles Dickens, and Assassin’s Creed Origins continues the tradition. In the cinematic trailer, which the company unveiled during the Xbox at Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany, Cleopatra strategizes over a map of Egypt as Julius Caesar marches his armies for war. Mathematician, astronomer, and poet, Ptolemy, can also be seen in the trailer.

After taking a year off from the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Origins takes fans of the series all the way back to the beginning of the Brotherhood. In an interview with GameSpot, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that the best console version of Assassin’s Creed Origins will be available on the Xbox One X. “We did a deal with Microsoft on Assassin’s Creed: Origins,” said Guillemot, “which is taking really good advantage of the power of the machine.”
Assassin’s Creed Origins launches on the Xbox One, PS4, and Windows 10 on October 27 and will have immediate support for the Xbox One X when the console launches on November 27.
