Use Your Abilities and Techniques

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle Tips

Every character in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle comes with their own unique set of abilities and techniques to help you out in a battle. Abilities like the Team Jump and Dash will remain useful all throughout Kingdom Battle, and you should be utilizing them every chance you get. Team Jump allows a character to jump on an ally to reach a further point on the map, allowing you to flank an enemy or get to high ground. Some characters, like Mario and Luigi, can get a lot more use out of this if you upgrade them as well. For instance, Mario is able to land on enemies to deal damage to them after a Team Jump, and Luigi can chain jumps with multiple allies.

On the other hand, Dash is a good way of dealing a bit of extra damage to your foes. It doesn’t hit very hard, but it can finish off weakened foes. Rabbid Peach gets a lot of utility out of this once you upgrade her Dash, allowing her to hit more than one enemy in a single turn.

Outside of that, techniques can also help to turn the tide in a battle. Rabbid Peach soon became one of my most invaluable allies because of her ability to heal characters who were near her, and she could survive big hits with her Shield technique. Techniques need to be recharged after use, but make sure to use them frequently and wisely.

Experiment With Team Composition

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Tips

As previously mentioned, every character in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is unique, and they have their uses. However, it’s not just their abilities and techniques you should be paying attention to. Their weapons have distinct qualities as well, and you should pick the ones that will suit your play style the best.

For instance, I like having Luigi on my team because of his precision weapon. This allows him to snipe enemies from afar, dealing high damage. On the other hand, Mario is a very well-rounded character who deals decent damage and buffs allies’ attack power, though his range is a little bit on the shorter side.

When you start fighting bosses, you’ll also find that some characters are better suited to particular fights than others, so don’t be afraid to mix things up every once in a while.

Always Upgrade Your Weapons and Skills

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Tips

As a general rule of thumb, try to upgrade your weapons and skills after or before every midboss and main boss. You’ll unlock weapon blueprints by opening chests all over the world, and you’ll gain Power Orbs through chests and chapter completion. You’ll also find that enemy health increases rather quickly in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, so you’ll want to make sure that you always have the best weapons for each character. Pay attention to a weapon’s super effect as well – you don’t want all three characters with Honey weapons – and try to have a different weapon effect for each character. Honey is good for rooting an enemy in place, while Burn is perfect for dealing big damage and forcing your opponents out of cover.

The Skill Tree is where you’ll get to upgrade existing abilities and techniques for your characters, along with their stats like health and movement range. I recommend unlocking all of their basic abilities and techniques first, and then focus on improving certain areas or stats. Every character gets their own individual Power Orbs, so you don’t have to worry about balancing the Orbs across the entire roster.

Aim for a ‘Perfect’ Performance Rating

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Tips

At the start of Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, coins will be pretty hard to come by. You need coins to buy weapons, and aside from picking them up on the ground, the best way to get them is by performing well in battles. You’ll be rated after each battle, with your rating depending on how many turns you took to complete the fight, and how many characters were left alive by the end. Your rating will take a hit if you let a character die, meaning that you’ll only get a ‘Good’ rating even if you complete the battle in record time, so try to prioritize survival.

Getting a ‘Perfect’ is pretty easy in the first few fights, and every ‘Perfect’ rating will add to your overall chapter performance. Do well enough, and you’ll get extra coins for your effort. The extra coins are definitely worth your time, as weapons can feel very expensive during the early hours, so try to get a ‘Perfect’ rating whenever you can.

As another general rule of thumb, take the high ground in a battle whenever it’s available. You’ll deal more damage from a higher elevation, and you can get a higher shot percentage on foes hiding behind partial cover. Don’t clump all three of your characters together, and always look for pipes and other shortcuts on the map so you can get a better angle on your foes. If Rabbid Peach is a permanent member of your team (like she is on mine), keep her close to a character you plan on using as an aggressor. She can heal them every two turns, and she can also soak up damage with her Shield technique if the need arises.

Hunt for Secrets

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Tips

Don’t just rush from one battle to the next in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Take your time to explore your surroundings, and see if you can find any secret or hidden areas. Your exploration will usually reward you with collectibles, weapon blueprints, Power Orbs, or coins. And if you find a blue Rabbid cannon, make sure to interact with it. These will send you to a secret level where you have to collect all blue coins in a certain amount of time to unlock a weapon blueprint. These are very valuable, so attempt them as they appear.

As you progress through Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Beep-0 will also unlock new abilities that affect how you can interact with certain environmental objects. Whenever you get a new ability, consider going back to the previous world to see if you can find any new secrets or valuables. It’s also worth mentioning that each world contains a secret chapter that unlocks after you clear the world for the first time, so feel free to go exploring.
