You Won’t Have to Pay for Monster Hunter World’s DLC

A jurassic deal.

Looking forward to jumping into Monster Hunter World but worried you’ll be nickel-and-dimed to death by any downloadable content that could be coming down the pipeline? It looks like the upcoming DLC for Monster Hunter World will actually be free. So if you were concerned about riding the Monster Hunter bandwagon but thought you might have to keep ponying up, you can rest assured that’s not the case.

The quests in-game will be free, but Capcom is looking into some changes for consoles that aren’t always online. There will be some sort of “system” in place to take care of differences when some people can download quests and data when they’re able to be home so they can play when they’re out and about — that means there are additional quests in place that might occur at certain times, which wasn’t always tenable before.

“We have made sure we are putting the volume of gameplay people expect from a Monster Hunter,” executive producer Kaname Fujioka said when speaking to Polygon. “I think we have our priorities right. We don’t want to let any users down who are used to Monster Hunter being a great, meaty experience.”

And that means leaving paid DLC at the door, which is obviously great news. Monster Hunter World is coming to Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4 in 2018.
