A sequel to tile-matching puzzle game Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, simply called Puzzle Fighter, is coming to Android and iOS devices later this year, Capcom announced today.
Puzzle Fighter will be a free-to-play game by Dead Rising 4 developer Capcom Vancouver. The game features characters from Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Mega Man, and Dead Rising in head-to-head battles with the computer or other players.
Capcom released a short teaser trailer below, showing off a 3D cartoon art style. The original, released for arcades and the PlayStation in 1996, sported a more chibi style based on the designs of Super Street Fighter II Turbo. The game received an HD remake, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in 2007.
Puzzle Fighter will make its debut in the Capcom booth at PAX West this weekend, before soft-launching in select regions soon. The game is scheduled for worldwide release in late 2017.
