Nintendo Is Focusing Its Efforts on Additional Novelty-Style Games

If you liked 1-2-Switch, prepare for more in that vein.

Nintendo is always hard at work on new projects that we’re not privy to, so that shouldn’t come as a surprise. But what may seem interesting is the fact that, according to managing executive officer Shinya Takahashi has stated during an investor presentation that the company is still sitting on some titles it hasn’t announced yet, namely of the 1-2-Switch novelty game persuasion.

“We are working on a variety of projects now where we are asking ourselves how we can follow up on 1-2-Switch in terms of using Nintendo Switch to play differently, and what would be fun to play,” Takahashi stated during the presentation, noting that the company is “looking forward to announcing some of these projects soon.” Of course, he didn’t say what any of those projects were, nor did he offer any hints as to what we might expect, so that’s all up in the air for now.

Interestingly enough, 1-2-Switch generally received poor to middling reviews, with most reviewers sharing the sentiment that it was way too expensive and should have instead been a pack-in with the Nintendo Switch rather than what amounted to a pricey tech demo. If Nintendo is indeed bringing out additional games of that cadre, then hopefully whatever comes next from the company that aims to show off what the Switch can do is more substantial.
