Tetsuya Takahashi, creator of the Xeno series and founder of Monolith Soft, sat down in an interview with TIME to talk about his upcoming Switch title, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – which is a sequel to the 2012 Wii title, Xenoblade Chronicles. Even though Chronicles 2 is a sequel to the 2012 game, it has a whole new story with brand-new characters and even a different art style.
Since the Wii U didn’t do too hot on the sales side of things, not too many people got to play Xenoblade Chronicles X. TIME asked Takahashi if there’s any chance that Xenoblade Chronicles X would be getting a Switch port since the console seems to be doing very well.
Takahashi replied with “I think we’re currently completely focused on creating Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and even after I go back to Japan, I have a mountain of tasks that I need to overcome. But I would love to think about it, after the development for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is completed.”
Here’s hoping that once Xenoblade 2 comes out for the Switch, Monolith Soft will consider the Xenoblade X port for the Switch. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is set to launch for the Switch sometime towards the end of the year.
