Earlier this year, 343 Industries teased fans that they could expect something small at E3. No, they weren’t going to announce Halo 6, but there would be something to appease eager fans. Now we might finally know what it is, we just hope you’re still excited by Halo 5 news.
Announced today via Halo Waypoint, Halo 5 will receive a 4K update when the Xbox One X hits shelves later this year. The update is touted as a move to “true 4k”. We’ll have to wait to see what the graphical upgrade does to the already beautiful game.
The Waypoint post also outlines some other halo plans that will take place soon. Halo CE Anniversary Edition, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4 are all coming to Xbox One Backwards Compatibility later this year. All four games can already be played on the Xbox One through the Master Chief Collection, but this lets those who didn’t pick up the package still enjoy the Halo games of yesteryear.
It isn’t much news but it’s clear that Microsoft is still keeping Halo at the forefront of their minds. Earlier this year the company released Halo Wars 2, which was well received, serving as both a strong console-based strategy game and a fantastic Halo story. We know that Halo 6 is coming, we just need to wait to see what Master Chief gets up to next. In the meantime, you can enjoy Halo 5 in 4K, reliving the famous Spartan’s past endeavours.
