Uncharted the Lost Legacy is continuing the story of Uncharted later this summer, but it certainly isn’t the end of the series.

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Creative Director of The Lost Legacy, Shaun Escayg elaborated on the future of the franchise. He specifically noted that sticking to the new formula established by The Lost Legacy would allow for many new swashbuckling adventures.

Escayg said, speaking of how they decided on Chloe as the new protagonist:  “I wouldn’t say it’s the end. This thieving world is huge. There’s so many characters. Even before we settled on [Lost Legacy’s] story we were exploring Sullivan, we were exploring Cutter, and pairing each other up, thinking what would be right, what would have conflict, growth, something new, something fresh”

The most recent game in the series was Uncharted 4: a Thieves End, which released in 2016 to critical acclaim. It ended the story of Nate and Elana, wrapping up the narrative in a satisfying manner. The future of the franchise was unsure until Uncharted The Lost Legacy was revealed at PSX late last year.

Starring Chloe Frazer from Uncharted 2 and 3, and Nadine Ross from Uncharted 4, it will follow the formula established with the original game, following the two explorers as they search for a hidden treasure.

Uncharted The Lost Legacy will release exclusively for PS4 on August 22.
