They're very confident.

Given how anticipated the upcoming title is, it’s not surprising that some gamers have felt disappointed that they’ll have to wait even longer. As GameSpot reports, Strauss Zelnick, the executive producer of Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two, explained why the game has been delayed and why he believes it’s in the game’s best interest.

“The purpose of the delay for Red Dead Redemption 2 is to make sure we deliver the most extraordinary we’re capable of providing.” When asked if there was a specific reason the game has been delayed, Zelnick replied:

“We have not run into particular issues. We are building a new game from the ground up for the first time for new-generation consoles. And the pressure that we put on ourselves to deliver excellence and to delight consumers is extraordinary.

“We want to make sure that the appropriate time is taken to do the very best job we can and I that’s what consumers expect of Rockstar games and that’s what Rockstar games typically delivers. So we support emphatically the label’s decision and we are utterly confident that it will prove in time to be wise first and foremost creatively and artistically, economically as well.”

Zelnick went on to say that Take-Two feels it’s an “extraordinary understatement” to say that the publisher is feeling confident when it comes to Red Dead Redemption 2 and its ability to attract a wide audience.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has officially been announced for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is currently unknown as to whether the title will see a PC release.
