PlatinumGames’ action-RPG ‘NieR: Automata’ has surpassed 1.5 Million in worldwide shipment and download sales, Square Enix announced. The sequel to the cult hit that came out in 2010 has received very positive reception and is now one of PlatinumGames best reviewed titles, according to Metacritic.
Last month, the first downloadable content package for the game released which featured additional costumes and three new battle coliseums that had players facing off against the president of Square Enix and PlatinumGames: Yosuke Matsuda and Kenichi Sato.
The developers over at PlatinumGames announced last week during BitSummit that they are working on a game that will serve as a brand-new IP for the team. PlatinumGames Producer Atsushi didn’t reveal too much information about the project except that it’s a “formless, shapeless IP” that will involve a new director. We’ve also recently reported on the news that Microsoft has renewed the Scalebound trademark which can mean that the game might be still living.
NieR: Automata launched for PlayStation 4 in North America on March 7 and in Japan on February 23.
