Mia Wasikowska may not be the first name on the tip of everyone’s tongues when the thought of casting the upcoming Netflix Witcher series is brought up, and that’s perfectly understandable.

She tends to go for more dramatic roles such as Jane Eyre in the film of the same name, or as India Stoker in 2013’s Stoker.

Yet, there is one role she’s undertaken that gives a glimpse of how she’d be something akin to perfect as Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon, better known to fans simply as Ciri.

Mia Wasikowska plays the titular Alice in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass. Alice is slightly different from how she is in the beloved children’s novels, being part pure spirit, part fierce warrior.

She’s no stranger to wielding a blade to go toe-to-toe with fierce monsters like the Jabberwock, yet can still quickly turn on a dime to be a loving, understanding individual, something we see of Ciri in the novels and, most recently, in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Mia’s initially unassuming appearance will help bring both sides of Ciri to life in the Witcher Netflix series in ways not many others can pull off.

Chloe Grace Moretz

Chloe Grace Moretz has proven herself to be a multifaceted actress over the past decade as she’s played serious, humorous, and downright badass characters all with relative ease.

Tie that in with the fact that she’s well versed in exuding a fierce nature and sharing many emotions without words, sort of like how Ciri does in the Witcher, and you’ve got a great match.

It’s something we hope gets brought to our screens (be they TV, phone, or tablet) when the Witcher series finally hits Netflix.

Chloe also has the perfect look to play Ciri over the course of a long period of time. She has a very young aesthetic to her that easily switches into a more mature look making transitions of time still believable.

This may prove to be important as we don’t know exactly where in the story the series will take place.

Melanie Laurent

Melanie Laurent is a French actress who has taken over screens in dozens of films over her nearly 20-year career.

I was first introduced to her talent in the 2009 film Inglourious Basterds where she played Shosanna, a young woman who fled from Nazi captivity and devised the ultimate revenge plot.

That role was all I needed to see to know that she would be absolutely perfect for the Netflix Witcher series as Ciri.

Ciri is a powerful woman who is, unfortunately, dealing with powerful forces that outnumber her and want to claim her for their own.

While the ability to fight is certainly of importance considering fantasy and action are both used heavily in the books and games, an actress that can convey that inner struggle without moving a muscle or uttering a word, and is able to exude strength and wisdom, is also crucial for delivering on the depth of this character.

Melanie Laurent has that in spades, and she can even pull off the look, she would excel and definitely should play Ciri in the Netflix Witcher series.

Natalie Dormer

Natalie Dormer is perfect for the role of Cirilla in so many ways. For starters, the look. Yes, she does have a more matured appearance than some fans may be expecting of this particular character, but it’s not too difficult to look at Natalie Dormer and see Ciri staring right back at you.

The piercing eyes, the defined bone structure, the sly smirk that betrays her innocence, letting you know that this is not someone you should toy around with.

It also helps that Dormer is no stranger to the fantasy side of fiction or kicking ass. She plays the badass Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones.

But she’s been a clever force to be reckoned with in other projects as well, such as Cressida in The Hunger Games, and Jamie Moriarty in Elementary, a modernized take on the Sherlock Holmes story.

Seeing her step onto a screen with Witcher gear in tow, supporting Geralt would be just as amazing as anything else this talented actress has ever done.

Cara Delevingne

Cara Delevingne may not have as large an acting resume as the other actresses on this list, but what she may possibly lack in experience, she more than makes up for with her look, attitude, and raw talent.

Delevingne has been building up a varied portfolio that shows that she is more than capable of variety.

Whether it’s her role as Margo in Paper Towns, Enchantress in Suicide Squad, or as a DJ in Grand Theft Auto V (she’s one of the very best in the game, seriously), she throws herself into every role and manages to be different in each.

That’s valuable when considering casting, and it places her in a good position to be the dominant force that is Ciri.

Also, just look at the image above. They should already just give her a script and have her read some lines.

These are of course our picks for who should play Ciri in the Netflix Witcher series! If you have some suggestions of your own, definitely feel free to share them down in the comments below.
