Nintendo has released a troubleshooting guide for players that are having problems with Joy-Con synchronisation on the Switch.
There is an official support page which Nintendo has put up targeting issues like Joy-Cons “not responding” or “responding incorrectly.”
Just before launch, it was reported that there were problems with the Joy-Con not working properly, connections cutting out, or a lack of signal at 5 metre range. Nintendo responded with a day-one patch set to solve the issue, but it persisted.
The new troubleshooting guide offers several key tips for players:
Ensure that the Nintendo Switch console is placed to minimize interference with the Joy-Con. It is best if the Nintendo Switch console is placed out in the open and that it is not:
- Behind a TV
- Near an aquarium
- Placed in or under a metal object
That middle one there is a bit mysterious.
Also on the guide are suggestions for people experiencing problems with charging, power, and blank screens when operating the console.
