Where to Buy a Nintendo Switch Without a Pre-Order
The Nintendo Switch is set to be released this Friday, and chances are that you might just be one of the thousands of fans that have been unable to pre-order the console beforehand due to it being sold out at a number of major retailers as early as January this year.
But thankfully, there are a number of locations that will be keeping some stock at hand for walk-in customers on March 3. This might also be the best chance for people to get a hold of the console as early as possible, because Nintendo has a history of constantly under stocking their hardware, and there’s no telling when new stock might actually be available.
The full list of retailers can be found below:
Walmart
Walmart Supercenters will start selling the consoles at 12:01 am local time on March 3 for walk-in shoppers, so be prepared to get there at midnight for a chance to get your hands on a Switch, because only a limited amount will be available. For those stores that are not open 24 hours, Walmart advises people to call ahead to confirm what time the units will be available for sale.
Best Buy
Best Buy will also be holding midnight openings at select stores, and will be operating on a first-come, first-serve basis using the same ticketing system the chain uses during Black Friday. The same number of tickets will be issued as there are consoles, and customers will also receive a free Zelda posters while supplies still last. You can check here to see if your local store will be hosting a midnight launch.
Target
According to some fliers in circulation, Target will begin selling the Nintendo Switch at 8am local time at their stores. They will also have some additional accessories such as the Joy-con charging grip for sale.
Toys R Us
Toys R Us will not be holding any early, or midnight openings for the launch of the Switch, so your best chance of getting one from here is to get to the stores as early as possible.
GameStop
GameStop has previously confirmed that they will be keeping a limited supply of consoles on hand for walk-in customers at launch. They will also be selling two different bundles, each of which will include a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Nintendo World Store
If you happen to live in New York city, then the Nintendo World Store is probably going to be your best chance at being able to snag a Nintendo Switch. But chances are that it will also be the most hectic midnight launch event of them all. Their official website currently reads, “The Nintendo Switch launches at Midnight! Stay tuned for more details!”
