Could this mean Hotline Miami 3, Or Genital Jousting: Reloaded?

Devolver Digital has today confirmed a title for the Nintendo Switch, and the game should be released later this year.

The announcement came via a Tweet from the company’s official Twitter account:

The announcement comes a little over a month after Devolver Digital tweeted to ask their followers which of their games they would like to see in the Nintendo Switch.

Devolver Digital aren’t a typical Nintendo publisher, but they have the pedigree of incredible games; Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number are brilliant, GTA 1-style bloodbaths, Broforce is a ridiculous sidescroller that will literally make you laugh out loud, and Talos Principle is a gorgeous game with challenging puzzles. Then there’s Genital Jousting…

Nintendo previously had a reputation for refusing to publish video games with adult content, having famously removed the blood from Mortal Kombat on the Super Nintendo.  Nintendo has loosened their stance over the last decade, and their consoles have been home to the Manhunt 2’s brutality, GTA: Chinatown Wars drug dealing and Call of Duty’s “your mom” insults.

It will be interesting to see whether Devolver Digital uses the Nintendo Switch as a platform to release a sequel to one of their existing franchises, or whether they will look to utilize Nintendo’s new hardware to create a fresh title.

Devolver Digital will reveal more information at the Game Developers Conference, which runs from February 27 to March 3, with the expo from March 1 to March 3.
