Launch Day Titles (Mar. 3)

The list will be updated as new announcements are made and more titles receive locked-in dates.

You might hear a few complaints about the launch offerings for the Nintendo Switch, mostly due to the amount of games on offer. But when you really look at it, there are a range of experiences, and it happens to include a potential GOTY candidate, something neither the PS4 or Xbox One had day one. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild looks absolutely stunning and is set to kick off the new console’s life with a bang. There’s also a mix of some ports, new titles, and intriguing indies ready for fans on launch day:

  • 1-2-Switch
  • Human Resource Machine
  • I Am Setsuna
  • Just Dance 2017
  • Little Inferno
  • Skylanders Imaginators
  • Super Bomberman R
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • World of Goo

Q1 2017 Nintendo Switch Releases

(Jan. – Mar.)

lego city undercover

Most of Q1’s Nintendo Switch Releases are due out on launch day. But there are still a couple of spaced out titles you can look forward to if you don’t want to drop a huge wad of cash on day one. LEGO City Undercover was a solid Wii U game, so seeing it upgraded for Nintendo’s newest console will be cool. Also, a LEGO game on the go is never a bad idea.

  • Fat RMX – March
  • World of G00 – March
  • Has Been Heroes – Mar. 28
  • LEGO City Undercover – Q1/Q2

Q2 2017 Nintendo Switch Releases

(Apr. – June)

mario kart 8 deluxe, switch, nintendo

Q2 is normally not the strongest for releases, as it leads into E3 and precedes the infamous summer drought. Still, you can expect a handful games that haven’t received dates yet to fall into this period. This quarter isn’t completely dead for the Switch — Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will surely take up tons of time yet again, then there’s Sonic Mania, Disgaea, and Rime, which looks like a very intriguing indie title.

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Apr. 28
  • Rime – May
  • Arms – Q2
  • Disgaea 5 Complete – Q2
  • Puyo Puyo Tetris – Q2
  • Redout – Q2
  • Sonic Mania – Q2
  • The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth – Q2

Q3/Q4 2017 Nintendo Switch Releases

(July – Dec.)

Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo, Switch, games, carry, 2017

The second half of 2017 is light on confirmed dates for Nintendo Switch games, though that’s not anything to be alarmed by. It’s still very early in the year, so the release schedules for all platforms are looking vague for the latter part of 2017. Developers are still ironing out kinks, plus there are plenty of games that have yet to receive dates that will fall within this window.

  • NBA 2K18 – Sept.
  • FIFA – Q3/Q4
  • Splatoon 2 – Q3 (Summer)
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Q3/Q4 (Fall)
  • Fire Emblem Warriors – Q3/Q4 (Fall)
  • Super Mario Odyssey – Q4 (Holiday)

TBD 2017 Nintendo Switch Releases

Yooka-Laylee

There are a lot of other games that are due out for Nintendo’s upcoming console that have yet to receive locked in dates or even windows, yet they’re still due out some time in 2017. You can expect the following titles to be sprinkled throughout the year, with many releasing shortly after their counterparts on other consoles, like Yooka Laylee. That game is set for Apr. 11 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but still hasn’t been locked in for the Switch, although you can reasonably expect it to not be too far off, if not ultimately on the same day. Some of these games are also ports, so you may be seeing them sooner rather than later.
