Rainbow Six Siege’s Velvet Shell update, set to release soon, will introduce two new operators; the first has just been revealed.
As you can see Jackal is a male operator with some Predator-style tech, which allows him to see enemy footprints on the ground. It sounds like an intriguing proposition, and obviously there is a lot we don’t know: is this ability unlimited? Do the footprints stay indefinitely? It’s interesting either way, and we’ll have to wait and see how Jackal adds to the competitive variety.
There hasn’t been much detail from Ubisoft regarding Jackal – aside from what’s in the trailer there is some information on the Rainbow Six Siege website. The description of the new operators and their role within the upcoming Operation Velvet Shell is as follows:
“In Operation Velvet Shell, two G.E.O. Operators join Team Rainbow to protect civilians vacationing on the ‘Coastline,’ our new free map set in Ibiza, Spain. The local authorities request the assistance of the Spanish Grupo Especial de Operaciones (G.E.O.) to evacuate the perimeter after an anonymous tip.”
There will be a live demo of Velvet Shell during the international Rainbow Six Siege tournament, which runs from Feb. 3-5.
