The PlayStation Live Events Viewer app will no longer available as Sony will discontinue the app in North America on PS3 and on PS4 tomorrow (Jan. 10) – as reported by DualShockers.
That being said, if you are a PS4 player then you will still be able to use a similar service for any live events you plan on watching – so it may not be a huge deal for you. You will still be able to purchase and view live events; it’s just that now it will be utilised through the PlayStation Store instead of the separate Live Events Viewer app.
It is bad news for PS3 players though: there won’t be any kind of replacement service for the PS3. If you plan on watching any live events this year through your console then you might want to consider upgrading to the PS4.
The Live Events Viewer app was a quietly useful one. It allowed users to watch paid for and free live content like sports events, as well as other odd bits of programming.
