How to Play as Toad – Super Mario Run
While running through all of the different levels in Super Mario Run as the portly plumber himself is great, sometimes you just need a bit of a change. Lucky for you, Toad and a bunch of other characters from the Mushroom Kingdom are playable in Super Mario Run.
If you want to get your hands on Toad, you’re in luck because he’s the easiest to get. All you need to do is click on the little icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen just beneath your total coins. This will then give you the option to link your My Nintendo account if you didn’t do so in the setup.
Once you’ve linked your account, click on the My Nintendo icon in the same place, and then select Toad from the Rewards screen. Tap the Redeem option and the let the game do its thing. When this is complete, head back to the kingdom screen and check the giant present. Select ‘Receive’ next to Toad. You can now use him in Super Mario Run.
To use him, head to the level you want to play and just before you hit Start, tap the little Mario to the right. This will bring up the character select screen, allowing you to select Toad and play as him.
