Today, Niantic revealed that popular AR game, Pokemon GO, is getting a bunch of new ‘mon as part of an update coming to the game later today.
The news comes via a post over on the official Pokemon GO website, where it was revealed that Professor Willow has apparently discovered Togepi and Pichu hatching from Eggs.
Due to start later today, players will have the opportunity to hatch several Pokemon from the second generation of games. For those unfamiliar with the Pokemon generations, this includes any Pokemon introduced during the Gold and Silver games set in the Johto region. The announcement was accompanied by a reveal trailer that you can check out for yourself below.
Currently, all we know for sure is that Togepi and Pichu are hatchable, though both the trailer above and the announcement elude to ‘select others’ from gen II. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as and when we find out more information.
Alongside the Johto additions, Niantic also announced that as of today until Dec. 29, players will have the chance to catch a festive holiday Pikachu. The festive Pikachu wears a little Santa hat and is the perfect way to celebrate the holidays.
